4 Foundations of Strong Immunity

Health doesn’t happen alone. Just as everything in the body is interconnected, so are all of us as humans.

When it comes to widespread disease, we need to do three things:

  1. Reduce our exposure to defend ourselves against becoming unwell. These are the simple–but very effective things–we should all do, such as washing our hands, coughing into our elbows and avoid touching our faces in public.
  2. Increase our own health and support and nurture an uncompromised immune system
  3. Educate and support those around us to do the same.

These are our 4 all-natural foundations for strong immunity and boost whole body wellness.

1. Essential Nutrients

Every single process and function in the body is powered by nutrients, this includes the workings of our immune system. Think of nutrients as your army. You need to have ample soldiers for your first line of immunity defence and nutrients play that role.

Ensuring you're eating a whole food diet, rich in a broad range of essential nutrients and antioxidants and high-quality essential omega 3 fatty acids, is a great place to start for your baseline of nutrients. Check out our free BePure recipes for some inspired ideas for wholefood eating.

In times of high need, adding in a high-quality multi-vitamin and high strength fish oil can also support in topping up your nutrient levels.

Once you have your army of nutrients in order, next come your generals. You need adequate levels of zinc, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin A and selenium, which are all essential for supporting a healthy and effective immune system. These guys are your generals and with no generals, there's no one telling your soldiers what to do to keep healthy!

2. Nourishing Sleep

It’s while we’re sleeping that our body gets a chance to focus on restorative and regenerative practices— mentally and immunologically processing the day that’s just been and gearing us up for the one ahead.

Sleep deprivation negatively impacts both our physical and mental health relatively quickly. Regularly getting 8 hours of sleep helps our immune cells to function more effectively. It also supports our circadian rhythm and the hormones that assist in controlling the immune system.

If you're finding you need some extra support with winding down for a nourishing sleep, or staying asleep, BePure Deep Sleep and BePure Magnesium Restore are great sources of vital herbs and nutrients to support a good night of sleep.

3. Daily Movement

The benefits of regular exercise are significant, supporting all areas of our wellness from mental health, to supporting better sleep, and our immune system too.

Moving our body daily helps to flush the lymphatic fluid, which we can think of as the filter for our immune system. The lymphatic system doesn't have a pump (like the heart is for the circulatory system) so we have to pump our muscles in order to flush the lymph fluid around the body.

Restorative movement, like walking or yin yoga, helps to balance our nervous system response, which in turn helps our immune system to be more effective.

4. Managing stress

Stress of all varieties can have cataclysmic effects on our immune system. While we can’t necessarily always control the aspects we are feeling stressed about, we can take action to manage our response.

Think of 'stress' as unnecessary workload or a 'distraction' for the immune system. We need to keep the immune system on the task at hand! Keeping us healthy.

You know the saying—”if you don’t pick a time to rest, your body will pick for you.”

So there you have it—4 all-natural foundations for strong immunity. These simple but effective daily diet, lifestyle and nutrition measures will help you establish strong whole body wellness.
